I HATE the word victim!

In our world today there is a-stigma, that if  you are a victim of a situation, that, that experience defines you. It does not.  It's something that happened TO you, and doesn't  HAVE to define who you are. In my experiences my children and I have all survived those experiences, which is why I prefer the word survivor.

There have been multiple events and situations in my life that would make the world stamp me as 'victim'. But i am not. To be a victim would mean to keep reliving the past; to let the people and situations that hurt me, to still have a grasp on my life. Being a victim would mean letting those things/ people keep stealing my life from me. But they don't.

Yes, those things happened. Yes, they left scars, and I am picking up the pieces, to try and help my family. We are moving on. I am choosing happiness, and a drive to become someone that I love because the best way way to get back at those who let us down is to rise again, stronger, smarter, more beautiful then before.

The person I was before I was told that I am a victim, still exists. I still love art and web development, I still have a drive for knowledge and I am still a mother to four amazing and wonderful children.  I created this blog to create a way from letting the word victim define you, to help people become a survivor and not let every set back that happens as you are rebuilding yourselves  from the victim to the survivor and let the lessons and experiences that you have be what defines you.
